The Bayonetta Reading List

by Maddy Myers

This past weekend, I attended the third annual GaymerX convention, and I appeared on a panel called "Bayo Studies Year One" with my delightful peers Todd Harper, Gita Jackson, and Katherine Cross. We discussed the writing that the four of us have done about Bayonetta, and I thought it'd be helpful to include a list of all of the pieces to which we referred. Enjoy!

The Well-Told Tale / The Depressive Artist / Seeking the Formula

by Maddy Myers

I watch a lot of murder mysteries in my spare time. I love any TV show with a strong female lead, and the murder mystery genre offers a lot to reckon with in this area, from Castle to Miss Fisher to The Bletchey Circle to Murder, She Wrote. Each of these shows takes place in different time periods and different parts of the world, but there are a few themes that unite them: a whip-smart leading lady (or two, or four) has to constantly reckon with a world that undermines her and doesn't take her seriously. Hello, world.

by Maddy Myers

This website will be a new catch-all place to put all of my work and projects.

This week, I wrote a blog post about Hotline Miami, guns, violence, America, and masculinity. I also published a round-up of five indie PC games that gave me hope for the games industry in this past year.

I will try to use this space for blog post topics that don't quite "fit" the tone of Laser Orgy (my blog at the Phoenix), and also to keep folks aware of the writing and other projects I do elsewhere.
